3:00 pm—Discussion Panel: “Freedom of Speech: Constitutional and Cultural Perspectives” (Gottlieb Boardroom)

Panelists including SAU faculty L. Joseph Hebert (Political Science) and Jessa Roisen (Philosophy), guest lecturer Carson Holloway (University of Nebraska, Omaha, Political Science), and Dr. Timothy Millea of the Catholic Medical Association will discuss legal, institutional, and interpersonal factors that promote a culture of free and open debate, and the contribution such a culture makes to the flourishing of society.

5:00 pm—Buffet dinner (Rotunda)

Panelists and attendees will have an opportunity to mingle and continue the discussion while enjoying a buffet dinner.

6:30 pm—Keynote Lecture: “New York Times v. Sullivan and the Original Meaning of the First Amendment: Rethinking Libel and Freedom of the Press” (RC Ballroom)

Guest lecturer Carson Holloway of the University of Nebraska Omaha will deliver a keynote lecture based on his forthcoming monograph.
